How To Prevent Your Phone From Total Damage After Falling Into Water
I'm sure you don't want to experience that horrible situation where you have your phone totally damaged because of water. Prevention is better than cure, but what if it happens? what will you do to ensure you don't lose your phone? Let me quickly highlight the first aids you can apply to avoid a heart breaking story about your phone after dropping inside water.
5 steps to take when your phone falls inside water:
1. Remove it from water: Tension can make you leave your phone inside water and start raising false alarm. Instead of screaming, quickly reach out into the water and ensure your phone doesn't stay for 1mins inside water no matter how deep it goes. The longer it stays, the more dangerous it becomes.
2. Off the phone immediately: The greatest mistake you can ever make is to leave your phone on after taking it out of water thinking everything is fine. Even if the phone goes off after falling, don't ever attempt to see if the phone is still alive by putting it on. Putting your phone on or leaving it on after removing it from water is the greatest mistake you can ever make. By all means, ensure the phone is off immediately it is out of water.
3. Detach and remove all external components: By this point, I mean, you should try to separate the phone as far as you can, so that air can penetrate into the phone inner panel. Parts you should remove include: The back cover or pouch, Sim cards/Sim tray, memory card, battery, etc. These are things you remove normally, just ensure you open the phone and remove the attachable parts or accessories. Don't bother if your phone is inbuilt, proceed to the next stage.
4. Sun dry or place it in a well ventilated area: You have to be careful at this stage, especially when you are trying to apply heat, too much of heat can totally damage the phone. Put it under the sun with the phone screen facing down. Place a soft material like towel under the phone before putting it down. You can on the fan to help dry it if there is light. I don't support the traditional method of putting it inside rice because it has not been working most times. This procedure is safer.
5. Reach out to the nearest Engineer: That's the best solution, ensure your phone is disassembled that same day, if it happens at night, after applying the above steps, take it to an engineer the next morning. The engineer will be able to dry the water in the remaining part of the phone where air can't reach while you detached the phone. After taking these steps, your phone is back to normal condition and you can continue to use it without putting anything at risk.
