Tips You Need Before Buying Used Phones:
- Ask For The receipt: This should be your first question if someone offers to sell used phones for you. No matter how the person is close to you, or how long the person has been using the phone, you can't just trust it. Requesting for the receipt will scare the seller away if he/she is not the owner of the phone. This will really save you a lot from falling into troubles after buying the phone.
- Be At Alert If It Is Too Cheap: Getting an offer to purchase a ridiculously cheap phone could be a trap. Three things could have happened: It could be a scam, it could be a stollen phone, or it could be that the phone has a major problem that can't be fixed. It is better to avoid buying such phones, but if after considering the other security tips in this write up, you feel like the phone is still safe for purchase, you can consider going for it. But such cases are 5/100 percent of security.
- Check If The Phone Is Outdated: This is another reason why people want to sell out phones. The phone might still be working fine, but the accessories are not available in the market. Well, you may say it doesn't matter, but the problem is, you may not be able to replace the part of the phone again if it gets spoilt. Therefore, making the phone useless.
- Look out for any physical Damage: Phones with physical damages are not bad. In fact this could be a genuine reason for someone to sell his/her phone. One thing about this is that, it will only give you the opportunity to lower the price of the phone more. Physical damages make phones to lose their value. But if you are the type who likes to use clean phones, you can check out for the screen, the casing, and scratches. If it doesn't meet your requirements, you can decide not to buy such phone.
- Test The Charging Port: Please note that not all charging port problems are solvable. It is safer to let the person change the charging port before buying it. Many people have fallen into this trap before. Try to get a usb cord and connect it to your PC. You are looking out for two things: If the phone connects to system and if it charges well. If the phone fulfils these two requirements, it is good to go.
- Press The Phone And confirm all the screen parts press very well: The touch must be in good condition. Though this is a minor issue, but it can be a problem as well. For instance, latest Infinix, Samsung, Techno, Apple Phones etc, have their screen made with the touch. So, if the phone has touch issue, you are going to spend a lot fixing it, it may eventually end up to the price you will have to buy a new one.
- Confirm The OS Is Good: In layman's term, confirm if the phone operates well. Does the phone hang? Does it take long time to lunch an app? Does it go off suddenly after pressing it for long? Etc...If answer to any of the above questions is yes, it is advisable not to buy the phone. Tell the person to fix it or seek advice from an Engineer if it is safe to buy the phone.
- Test the Battery Capacity: Some phones have low battery life, even if it is a new phone. But you have to be conscious of this factor as well, but it mainly depends on what you want. Play videos, music or put on the flash light for some time to quickly check if the battery will last you.
